If the forecasts pan out, we might be looking at an extended period of W and NW winds. Perhaps cloudier on Sat, and more sun on Sun. Perhaps a bit too strong W (for HG) at The Pulpit on Friday. Hard to trust forecasts this far out, but I have to admit that I'm starting to think of a multi-day 'camp-out-and-follow-the-winds' extended weekend. Will be watching the forecasts closely, and I might take off a day for Thursday flying if Fri isn't looking good.

Ho-hum, trying not to get all psyched or anything.... :)

A few PGs with SNP permits are hoping for an afternoon at Dickey's Ridge.

Got to the Pulpit around 3pm to find it howling pretty strong. Sky was patchy with cloud banks and clear bits. We watched a few ominous cloud banks move through but it stayed dry and died down a bit after 4pm. I got two short flights. First one I played it safe and stayed far out in front of the ridge, fearing penetration issues. I got some passes in thermal stuff and found some nasty sink holes that convinced me to head out to the secondary. When Bacil picked me up he suggested I take another flight if I wanted. On launch it was strong but good direction. I set up quickly and during my preflight I forgot to attach the nose cone on my Falcon 3. Neither of us noticed it, as we were concentrating on launching me with only Bacil as wire crew. The nose cone started flapping as soon as I was in the air and although it didn't noticably affect my glider's ability to fly, I headed straight for the secondary. I had good landings on both flights, following Bacil's advice and doing figure eights over the trees and landing to the south going up-hill. That's three spots out of the way!! but with the nose-cone bit, I'm not rushing to H3 right yet.

Looking forward to flying more this weekend.

Jesse - glad you got a couple flights! On the spots, maybe I am mistaken, but I thought the 3 spots have to be declared intent in advance, done consecutively, same day, and when one is missed the count returns to zero. I thought that's why some folks say it is easier to take care of at Highland with quick turn-arounds for flights. Is that not it?

Valerie, You're right, except for the part about being on the same day. They just need to be consecutive.
