Bill's Hill Saturday

Post by Matthew »

Keep your fingers crossed--AGAIN!!!! Current forecast is East at 7 for Saturday and sunny-- no hurricanes. Could be a good Bill's Day. Bring your implements of destruction. The slot needs a good clearing STILL! If we all pitch in we can clean up the slot in no time-- well, about an hour.

I'm tentatively planning on coming if I can car pool. I'll bring a heavy duty set of loppers.

In looking at the forecasts, it looks like it might be better there on Sunday. Others, what do you think? I am available to go either day but probably won't want to go both days. Oregon Ridge is closed for flying this weekend so I can't teach.

I'm interested in either day, though I'd like to carpool as well if possible.

Just looking at the forecast (as of 5:00 pm) indicates Sunday a better day with wind direction (slightly) and significant improvement of lift! Will look again in the morning. Will gladly carpool/take riders from Bethesda.

How was Bill's today? Tomorrow's forecast has lightened a bit, unfortunately. What are you thinking Daniel, John?

After mowing at Kirshners for 4+ hours I called Carlos who was at Bills and he said pg's were soaring. I got there a little after 6:00 pm and had a nice pg soaring flight for over 30 minutes and chose to land to catch a ride back up. A bunch of pg's flew with lots of soaring. The slot needs a lot of work. Going there today.

Brilliant day at Bill's-- a little choppy early-- Marc Fink and Lazlo had short soaring flights-- I arrived at 2:30 and had a bouncy sledder. It turned on at around 4pm with Marc getting up and then top landing. I launched at around 4:45 and flew for an hour forty, 1K over, and then top landed to help with a retrieval to the LZ. Mike Balk had nice long flight -- Karen had her first PG soaring flight at Bill's and Mike's 's wife Julia took an intentional sledder. Lazlo and Marc flew again-- both top landing. And Ellis and John M. showed up late for glass off flights. Ellis had her first successful top landing at Bill's. Carlos spent most of the afternoon kiting and helped run a retrieval. Thanks Carlos!
