Daniels : Sunday the 11th (today)

Post by sailin »

Any interest in Daniels today???? Looks like it could be okay this afternoon.

I'll check back on the forum around 11am and see if any interest has popped up. If I head out, ETA would be about 2pm

Several PG pilots flew Daniels yesterday. Some got modest XCs, others got lengthy flights. I flew very late and got an extendo.

It was clearly HG soarable during the peak part of the day.

'twas a fun day. I managed to get 1000 ft over in widespread lift for a total of 1:20 minutes. I counted 8 gliders in the air before we all got flushed.

Earlier in the day I flew PPG out of Warrenton Airpark and managed to catch gentle lift at 1400 ft at 10:20am. I shut off the motor and started circling then noticed a cloud forming over my head. I thermalled to base at 2300 ft. Then I flew away from the cloud and restarted the motor and got up over cloud tops at 3300 ft. What a view!

A prospective PG pilot named Bud showed up and took some pictures. Only two posted so far, but more to follow.

More pictures were posted. There is one that gives a real feel for what it was like at the end of the day when the lift shut down and it was raining gliders. Laszlo and Jim did a great job of "syncho" landing.
