Saturday at HR

Anyone thinking of a post-diluvian look at the new road to the LZ? It's lookin' a bit High Rockish to me.

welll, here's the thing, it'd be best to stay off the bottom part of the road for a bit. that part was where all the fines of the wash out settled, and where the fines from the field were previously pushed up by Randy. which of itself wouldn't have been a problem except that it had rained for the last couple of hours and then got churned up deeply by the 1st dump truck (the washed out slope area didn't budge when the truck drove over that area). it was smoothed out but needs to have a good dry out down deep and then it will be perfectly fine, even when it rains hereafter. didn't say anything as i'd assumed it wuold be at least a week or so til anyone went up there.

Zelda and I took a couple lawn chair to High Rock for the Fly-in that I had marked on my calendar. Steve Kinsley was there when I arrived at launch about 12:30. He had his chair also. What was notable was no one else was there except people enjoying the view. We set up,checked the winds, straight in 5-8 with cumis all round and got ready to launch. I launched first with a not too steller launch and Steve followed ten minutes later. Lots of thermals. We both managed an hour or so and got to 1600 over. Landed and went back to launch around 4:30 but still no one there for the party. Headed home like two lonely fliers who enjoyed a steller day at High Rock. The road is good, grass is cut. Perfect day for a party.

bottom part of the road
and from the distributed email:
best stay off the lower flat part of the road for now...that area was filled with fines from the washout...
Sorry, but i'm not taking the hit for anyone missing a day of flying!
