once i saw the post about the reschedule, the 26th, i sent an email to DHM asking if there was any possibility of the road being repaired prior to the 10th, mentioning the club party. i'll let you know when i hear anything back.
in my last conversation with Jaryl, he said that i'd most likely get a half day notice, that that would allow him the greatest flexibility in fitting us in. i told him that i'd take what i could get.

There will be a need of before and after pictures of the road if a grant application is made to the Free Flight Foundation, so people should take some shots if they have the opportunity.
I’d suggest staging with some item so as to give perspective, perhaps laying a bagged glider down in or along the ruts, or using one to bridge across the road, or someone could take a video of themselves rappelling to the bottom.
I’ve been counseled by others to have patience about this project coming to completion and i guess i’d pass that counseling along.
Some large and expensive equipment will need to be transported to and from the site. We’re a small fish with a one day job and construction companies have a lot of things to consider when prioritizing jobs. One reason we chose these guys is that they did right by us at the Pulpit and we’ll have to trust that they’ll do right by us here.
The impact on the annual party is a bummer and i wish i had something more concrete to tell you. The best i'll probably be able to do is say "Hey, guess what? they're doing it tommorrow!"

Gary,
Thanks so much for letting us know and being on top of them about scheduling the work. We can wait but have to make sure they don't forget about our project.

i just sent some pics to Matt for the grant application and asked him to post them here, as i don’t know how. didn’t get the finished road - by then it’d been raining for two hours and i forgot about it till after i’d changed my muddy clothes. i wasn’t about to step out of the car again!
i appreciate the appreciation, a “thanks” goes a long way with me.
cheers,
gary

Thank you Gary! You single-handedly made this project a success and spent an amazing amount of your own free time getting the estimate, physically prepping the site, hounding the contractor to schedule the job, personally seeing it through, and documenting the repair! It looks like you even had a hand behind the wheel of the dozer! Damn! High Rock Hero, Gary Devan!

I attached a few of the photos below. The rest can be found here:

i would add to the documentation that Dave, Carlos and Matt were diligent about taking care of business from the administrative side, i sort of spread things out among them and they were there when they needed to be. a thanks to them from me.
