Valerie and I met at Highland, she to learn how to set up/breakdown and FLY the Kinsley/Janni/Ellis/Hugh memorial Sport 2 she bought from me; I to deliver the Falcon II Tandem for packing and shipping to a buyer in Colorado - and to fly Valerie's Falcon (first HG flights since my injury 4 1/2 months ago). I found a dry north/south fairway among the various Lakes Ridgely to belly in on her Finsterwalder wheels. Valerie had a successful first double-surface flight with the fin. Sunny and Adam were helpful as ever with forgotten tow release and different length hang-loops.
In case people are worried that I am selling off all my gear and getting out of the sport, those of you who made it to the CHGPA meeting/soiree would know that Sallie has accepted a one-year assignment in Manila - and she needs someone to carry her bags. Rather than leave my five (5!) gliders to age and moulder in storage, it seems best to sell them off, retaining one each HG and PG. I am buying a short-packable Falcon III with a bunch of go-fasters from Marc Fink, which will be easier to ship. Yes, there is flying in the Philippines: HG/PG, sailplane and an ultralite club. I will miss you guys, but as Ellis pointed out, at our (my) age, a year just flashes by...
Great to get back in the air (sailplane just ain't the same!) - Hugh

Oops - hadn't realized Hugh had started a post as I started mine. And glad to realized I'd already forgotten that Janni was also a prior owner!

Hey Hugh. Too bad I missed you at Highland. Shucks. Tried to come out but there was some huge cluster** on the bay bridge.
