How much do you fly at Highland? Purchase Tows in Advance.

Post by hefalump »

How much do you fly and how many tows you take at Highland each season? I would like to encourage everyone to purchase tow packages for the rest of this season and next season in advance.

The extra funds now may help Adam and Sunny with the expenses to rebuild the tug damaged in the recent crash.

I don’t know if the boys at Highland endorse this or not, so please check with them before you purchase, but I can’t see how it could hurt.

I've thought of this as well, and I really want to help them out. I think it was appropriate for us to think of Keavy first, and delay addressing the material loss. However, I'm sure the loss of the dragonfly is a substantial loss for Highland, and in a business that they obviously do for love of free flying, it has to be difficult to absorb.

This weekend I'll be heading over there and I hope to talk with them about how we can help. I'm sure that if we all pull together, Highland Aerosports will recover and be stronger than ever.

This is my opinion only.
A new dragonfly costs $80,000. The $20 or so you pay for a solo tow does not produce any profit and is probably a money loser. Tandems allow the flight park the luxury of providing us with cheap solo tows. I hope you will keep this in mind when you are considering the purchase of new equipment and you will support the flight park that supports you.

Dave, that's very true. But it does help some and if that's how someone wants to help then it's certainly a good thing. It just may not be the most efficient way of helping. I suggest anyone wanting to help them out talk with them... and realize that you're going to have to be pushy :) They aren't asking for help, but I hope they'll let us help them out the best we can.

Lump,
This is really a good idea. Any amount of dinero will not be a bad thing out there. I am going to buy more than one tow package, but then I'm a towhead and it's 45 minutes from my house. The point is this... if you ever get out to Highland... when you do, please consider getting ahead and buying a package or even more than one!

If not, then as always consider them for your gear. They are full service and carry most lines of gliders, harnesses, varios, helmets and chutes (they have tons of helmets, an item you must try on to buy). If this is not in the cards, how about some new glasses, bridle, biner, book or T-shirt? You get the idea. As Dave said, find a friend and send them out for a tandem, this is big for these guys. Now is the time guys... it won't hurt. Next time you come out think about something you might need or get ahead on tows.

Lump, Thanks for putting forth the concept.

I'm in....

Regards,
John
