Helmets in quiescient mode...
Having been picked up and tossed back to the ground once in Utah (while hanging onto a side flying wire none-the-less) I've always felt strongly about wearing a helmet while hooked into a hang glider; at launch or while in a cart. While this is an extreme case even in the east, a rouge thermal or gust can wreak havoc to a pilot hooked into a stationary glider.

Wasn't a pilot killed on launch by a dust devil at Dry Canyon, NM or someplace like that?Danny Brotto wrote:Having been picked up and tossed back to the ground once in Utah (while hanging onto a side flying wire none-the-less) I've always felt strongly about wearing a helmet while hooked into a hang glider; at launch or while in a cart.
