Team Challenge w/ Treetoppers in TN in late September
I've now been pulled off the wait-list and am on the roster for team challenge (albeit with an incorrect home city/state). Jon Brantly and Rich Bryant from the 'local' area (Rich at Ridgely) are also going to be there and encouraged me to sign-up - as did a couple folks at Hyner. I'm feel a little funny about heading there with no XC experience in a Falcon ... but I am sure it will be a learning experience - hopefully fun too! The site is taking people on the wait list - if others want to go! http://www.tennesseetreetoppers.org/

You will have a great time! Rain, shine, or blowing over the back.

Valerie,
The Team Challenge is the perfect place and time to fledge your XC wings. The contest is structured so that the more experienced pilots have an incentive to bring the less experienced pilots along. There are plenty of big landing fields and if it blows over the back they simply move across the valley and launch in the opposite direction.
When I've attended I've made a small mistake by teaming up with people I know. You will learn more if you team up with people you don't know, and you will make new friends as well. Try to get on a team with one of the locals, they know the territory and when the best time to launch is.
Don't pass up the opportunity to attend Mike Barber's XC clinic!
