Vegas paragliding July 17

Post by Spark »

I recently returned from a trip to Vegas. On Sunday (7/17) I went out to Jean Ridge in the evening. Temperature was about 115 and winds were perfect at 5-10SW. I was first to launch and made it to 1200 over, flying until sunset. I was joined later by two local paraglider pilots. The last half hour was so smooth we were all flying hands off. It was so smooth, I made a few cell phone calls. I think the temperature was down to about 105 degrees by the time we left.

I didn't bother to take any photos this time, but I've pasted a link below to some very similar Jean ridge soaring views taken last spring.

Whoops - I guess I posted a bad link - the correct link to photos of flying at Jean ridge (taken in March, 2004) is

Also, a link to the local club website is

Here is a corrected link

Explanation: Kaiti (my 17 year old daughter) was sitting on the observation platform of the stratosphere hotel in las vegas. She put her feet in the shot to simulate a PG photo.
