Just a logbook entry from the 5 O'Clock soaring club. At least 3 or 4 new members... Karen and Matthew, Rich, Ashley... Launched at 5pm... landed at 6:30+... nearly 6000' and as always in the later day, it was lovely. Carlos, a veteran of the club (I believe) also enjoyed a late flight. Smooth, with excellent visibility and a beautiful flat afternoon light, made the view of earth from on high especially pleasant. Great to see so many late flyers enjoying the "unsoarable" air that so often carries the tardy pilot aloft after 5 on the Eastern Shore. Ashley even ventured forth, at SIX PM on a cross country! Yes, it was not record breaking in a measurable sense, but his grin says the effort was worthwhile.
Dave P. got over 7000' earlier in the day... but then again before 5 or so it's just too easy out here. Special thanks to Carlos for loaning me his glider for a wonderful afternoon jaunt (after I found a kinked side wire on mine).
Regards,
John
