Anyone got any ideas or plans yet?
I need to get spot landings done for my P3 sign-off so was thinking about calling up Blue Sky to see if they'd be able to take me for that - not been there before though.

if you are going to Blue Sky - you need to be tow rated or get checked out with Steve.
It is very likely he won't have a spot with you during the weekend for check out flights.
You need to pre-arrange with him

Am already tow-rated, just want to get my spot landings observed.
Was figuring that five spot landings was easiest and quickest done at a tow field, rather than at a hill.
Thanks for the heads-up - will give him a call.

Re: Flying plans for this weekend (6/24-26)
In the end, I made it out to Blue Sky for the Saturday evening and Sunday morning scooter tow sessions.
Met a bunch of nice folks, including Dave, HG trainee, who very kindly cooked eggs, sausage and english muffins for those of us who camped out Saturday night - thanks Dave!
Also met a family who live just up the road from me! Hopefully we'll be able to ride-share.
Was impressed with the set-up there - like the shade shelter plus other amenities. Got on well with Steve. We were all disappointed by the conditions, unfortunately.
Wind was light and variable so it was forward launches for me and Noah on our PGs. Frustrating for both of us as we're obviously not that good (yet) at practically nil wind forwards on flat ground...we both took multiple attempts to get most of our tows off ok.
Just got a few low tows in on Saturday, and some mid height tows on Sunday - got some but not all of my P3 spot landings done.
Watched some HG truck tows and then went home.
Planning to go back for the weekend of 07/9-10 (may get the Friday and Monday too, if work permits) to polish off the remaining PG spots and then move over to HG towing to work towards getting truck tow rating (done scooter, aero and fixed winch launching but not truck).
Did relearn two lessons:
1) remember to hydrate fully - on Saturday evening, did a lot of ground handling practice before towing; it was hot and humid and i obviously wasn't drinking enough 'cos both legs cramped as i went airborne on the first tow...d'oh.
2) don't do forward launches (or practices) without full length sleeves - my upper arms still look like i was beaten with hose pipes!

Sounds like a success! I have Monday and Tuesday off for Independence Day and will probably be in Richmond with family. I may show up at Blue Sky at some point this weekend.

Actually conditions took a turn for the better later in the day (after 3pm)..Several pilots got over an hour with several others getting some personal bests..Unfortunately it did not turn out as well for me other than some extended sleds but happy to be there and seeing the day taking a turn for the better...Rich
