I was climbing down below HRock launch a few weeks back,
and there's a LOT of junk down there. Which got me thinking
"Hey! How about a cleanup on the Friday before things really
get going?"
This 30th anniversary is truly an historical landmark! And regardless
of flyability, I certainly plan to have a great time that weekend,
probably arriving mid-day on Friday.
If there are enough other pilots thinking the same thing, then
maybe we could help commemorate this event by cleaning up
High Rock? Doing something positive for the site where we've all
had such great flights would be a fitting activity for a 30th birthday
party!
I'm willing to coordinate this if there's enough interest. Is there?

PS: This would be a garbage & trash sort of cleanup, perhaps
easier than the usual sort of cleanup. Work gloves an absolute
necessity.

HR cleanup as part of fly-in?
It's a good idea, though a bit treacherous. We'd want to haul up garbage
bags with a rope straight up the block: I sure ain't gonna try to pack out
a bag full of broken glass.
At the very least we can pick up trash up top, which would have happened
anyway, but we could try to get some junk from the first level down as
well.

car broken into
So I go out this morning to find a window smashed in and stuff rummaged
around in my car. So what did they get? Didn't want my maps, my
wet-wipes, my swiss army knife, my windsock, my camping gear...
...all they ended up taking was a bag full of old ADI radios which work
intermittently so I haven't used in years, an old cheap weather radio, and an
ancient GPS which used to work but last time I tried it only picked up one
satellite. I hope they recognized the hang gliding sticker and will
know what to avoid next time. Oops, they probably took my toolbox - will
have to check.

Plus there's poison ivy down there. I wouldn't mind being one of the
puller-uppers.
