Don't get caught low over the trees!

Post by chuckok »

I was fortunate. Turned late and low. Blown over the trees in sink. Caught outside of the LZ. Dicey terrain. Good thing the trees behind the flight park at BlueSky have been cleared.

Lesson … Stay well in front of the tree line on approach, and always turn into the field.

How refreshing to see/hear 'I made a mistake and won't do that again,' instead of moaning it wasn't your fault. What I would give you kudos for (besides your great attitude) is that when it became evident that making it into the Blue Sky field was dicey at best that you immediately changed gears and made the best of what you had, instead of doggedly trying to make it home. Very smart!!
