It was a bit gusty at Taylor Hill, but the direction was mostly SW. The peak was 16mph, but we managed to get a bunch of hang gliding lessons in the lulls. The grass has been mowed, thanks to John, and there's less evidence of cows. 6 of us showed up for a hot, almost summer-like day.

Jon and I went out to Taylor's yesterday (Sun) and again today (Mon).

Yesterday, I made the decision not to fly. Although there were some great cycles (of which Jon and the other students took advantage of), I was not comfortable with the gusts. Also, I think my nerves were coming into play... since last time I was at Taylor's I had that incident (last year). So, I set up, did some runs, walked up and down the hill a few times, but ultimately parked my glider.

Today on the other hand, MUCH BETTER!!! Jon and I arrived to Taylor's around 9:30-ish to find calm conditions, SSE. We set up some wind socks/streamers and then set up our gliders. I did my initial runs and then made my way up the hill (about half-way). I did a total of 4 flights- all of which I felt good about!

Next up, working on landing approaches at Ridgly.... and then... *hopefully* joining you all in the mountains!!!!!

Like Amy said we spent yesterday and today at Taylor Farm....first let me say it was HOT!!! Not so subtle reminder that is gets hot and humid around here :)
Yesterdays conditions were like Amy and Matt said, hot and gusty, but with a nice cycles here and there. Today was much mellower (and a little cooler since we got there early) with nice light cycles rolling in. My plan for both days was "low and slow" as I am learning the ins and outs of my new glider....well new to me anyway. That's right , new glider  After doing some damage to my Falcon last week I brought it to Steve Wendt to have it repaired. Turns out Steve had a super low airtime Sport 2 155 that he was willing to trade in part for my glider. I had been preparing to get a Sport 2 155 so this worked out great.
Although I only have a couple training hill days under my belt so far with it.......it has been love at first flight :D I am hoping to get to Ridgely here in the very near future and do some pattern tows with it to dial in my approaches and landings.

Hope to see you all in the mountains or the tow park soon....or both!

Congrats on the S2. They are very nice gliders and the handling is great.

While the S2 will get you to that further LZ than the Falcon, it won't have the "pull in and go down now button" of the Falcon for that tight LZ. Be careful with that aspect!

Best wishes with dialing into the new glider.

Jon-- yeah, congrats on the Sport 2. When you were tweaking it and such there at Taylor, you were pretty modest not to gloat over it, so I didn't even take note you had a sweet new glider.

Note also to Bob Peterman. Good to see you flying today, too. Would you, and Jon also, note that I am back on the continental shelf and jot down my tel# for possible future collaboration: 7-OH-trio, nine-3-ate, OH-7-triplets-five. (from my reading... I think this is how cagey CHGPA types do it?)

Yeah, Jon, show us some pics!

John A, we met last fall at Taylors. Glad to hear you're around and willing and able. With all the April air lately in the mountains, maybe I'll see you at the training hill sooner rather than later.

SPort 2? Yee haw! Everyone agrees it may be the perfect glider, a sweet spot for performance, handling, weight, ease of set-up.

Amy, no one will criticize you for being careful. Don't be like me and discover dangerous conditions by "the Braille method".
