How about "pilots should be wearing their harness and helmet with all equipment including the wing assembled and preflighted before moving into the launch queue. The goal is for nothing more to required for launch than a pre launch check and final positioning of the wing. This holds for both hang gliders and paragliders even if there is a zero length queue." People can read attachment to the glider as part of the pre launch check if they prefer.

besides, it took all that effort on my part just to mitigate the impact of the above and to help unscramble everyones minds. i mean that stuff is enough to make someone blow a launch.

i did like the marc stuff. i think he'd probably be flattered.
and the earlier, "Damn, you guys are right." had a nice ring, i thought.

Yeah, printed rules suck. 'specially if I write them.

I'd prefer a fire hose to a baseball bat on launch, though.

don't get me wrong, protocols should be in print. But maybe only the non-obvious ones, like whether or not a landowner likes to be contacted before flying, etc. The rest can be left to Marc's baseball bat, otherwise we are left with a condo committee type of rulebook. I think that's what the old timers were trying to tell us young'uns.
