Subject: 2005 King Mountain Meet Official Standings
The 2005 King Mountain Hang Gliding Championships was great. There
were 80 registered competitors in this year's event. Conditions
provided some 100+ mile flights with many competitors achieving their
personal best flights. I would especially like to thank the meet
staff, John Spurlock, Donna Mathias, and Terri Edington for their
hard work through out the week. Also thanks for to the task
committee, Dean Tiegs, Alan Paylor, and Frank Gillette for nailing
the task every day. John Kangas did a great job as usual on the
weather reporting. Dan Gravage came up with yet another stellar
design for the shirts.
There are so many people that work hard to make this event successful-
thank you all.
Results for this years meet are as follows:
Top driver: Ernie Camacho (Ernie would usually be a competitor but
could not fly due to a broken wrist)
Honorable Mention: Lucy Stilson
Sportsmanship Award (nominated by other contestants): Sam Cox
Eiji Yokoda Memorial Trophy for the longest flight during the meet:
Scot Huber with 129.9 miles, edging out Alan Paylor who had a 129.2
mile flight
Winning Team: High Plains Drifters ( Steve Rudy, Gerry Pesavento,
Tim Hoopes, Scot Huber, and K.C. Benn).
