Smithsburg Monday 1/10

Post by sailin »

Amy and I are going to head back to Smithsburg tomorrow. Conditions are looking much mellower than yesterday and it might be a great opportunity for Amy to get back on her wing. We are planning on arriving around noon or noonthirty. I know its a Monday so most will be working but if not........come on out :)

WOW! What a great day!!!!!!!!

Jon and I got to Smithsburg around 11:30 this morning. We set up some windsocks and saw some great cycles coming in. I spent some quality time putting my glider together- the first time since it's been repaired. Let me just say, Steve does some amazing work!!! Really, I had to look hard to find the patch work on the sail. Humpty Dumpty is back together again!!! :-)

My glider and I reunited at the bottom of the hill for a few test runs. All went well, so I moved on up the hill. I did a total of 5 flights today... with 5 foot landings!!

I feel really good about today... this is JUST what I needed!

Thanks to everyone's well wishes for me, getting my glider back, and getting flying again. The support has been awesome... thank you!!!!!

And, of course, thanks to Jon (my number one fan :) ) for your help today!!!

... Here is the smile that I couldn't wipe from my face!!!!

Really nice day at Smithsburg today. Amy did AWESOME! She looked really confident and comfortable on her wing. We arrived to a nice, fairly straight in breeze at about 5mph with puffs to 7mph. There was a touch of westerly to it for most of the afternoon and the air was smooth. After cheering Amy on for the first part of the day I suited up and took a couple nice flights myself. We had a BLAST being out there today and it was really cool to see Amy back on her wing and flying nicely!

Can't wait to do it again!
