GoPro Hang Gliding Mount?

Post by Batman »

Hey, since I'm single again ... I'm playing Santa and ordered one of the GoPro HD Cameras. For you CHPGA'ers, which mount are you using? Is it the handlebar mount or the Roll Bar mount? Dan ... what video software do you use for your HG videos?

Hi Chris,
I have been using the roll bar mount. Works great on the keel or crossbar.

Hey Chris,

Like Jon said, the roll bar mount works great for mounting to round tubes. I'm not sure if you can use it on faired downtubes though. Another good solution is to get the Tripod Mount. Then you can attach the camera to any standard screw mount. A lot of pilots, including me, use the Ultrapod II. It's actually a mini-tripod and you can mount any camera to it, not just a GoPro. The 2 smaller legs fold back into the larger leg and there's a velcro strap, perfect for attaching to glider parts - round or faired. Be warned the velcro strap isn't very strong, I use the sail straps to hold mine on. They used to sell the Ultrapod at REI but not anymore. It's still available on Amazon. For editing I use PowerDirector 8. I've tried a few others and for relatively cheap software, PD is the best in my opinion. It looks like the current version is PowerDirector 9, still under a hundred bucks. Pretty simple click and drag type of editing program.

Hope that helps. Look forward to seeing some video of AZ flying.
