My first flight on the weekend of the 2010 High Rock Fly-In was at Woodstock, where Chuck O'K,
Dan Tw, Carlos, and myself all enjoyed some up-close flying with bald eagles.
Most of my attempts at free-hand photos of my encounters with them didn't turn out, especially
the closest approaches, darn the luck. But several of the others are ok, if a bit fuzzy.
I first noticed the pair that I flew with when they were several hundred feet below me. We were
all in a light thermal, which I started working to the max, knowing that they would soon be
climbing through me.
I circled above them for three 360's.... Then they were just below.... Then we circled together
for two 360's.... And then they were above. But wow, what an experience to have! They definitely
knew I was there the entire time. When they reached my altitude, they peeled off in two directions,
and I whipped the glider around to chase after one. S/he flew right in front of me, mere feet in
front of the nose wires, soooooooo cool!
Hope you enjoy the pics!

the narrative is what struck me this time. it conveyed how and why the experience was soooooooo cool!
it was sort of, you know, itself cool.
