Sorry I'm gonna miss it--at least Saturday. I was looking forward to cool weather camping. I might be able to come out on Sunday.

There's a propane tank in the LZ that could be refilled in Waynesboro. And there are two propane grills--hopefully one of them works.

"* PG Pilots: Fly from another site to the HR flyin and win a prize!"

Why only PG pilots?

I think David was simply trying to encourage a level of participation by PG pilots
at the High Rock Fly-In, given that the cliff is (currently, at least) launch-able only
for HG wings.

But don't worry, any and all pilots who might arrive at the Fly-In after (say) an XC flight
from The Pulpit will be feted, toasted, and celebrated! :-)

Cheers,

I'm guessing because the probability of the event and the budget for the prize are both asymptotically approaching zero.

1 PM (18) Nov 17 55.0 (12.8) 39.6 (4.2) 29.88 (1011) WNW 20
Noon (17) Nov 17 55.4 (13.0) 39.2 (4.0) 29.86 (1011) W 16

And at Martinsburg:

7 PM (0) Nov 17 48.9 (9.4) 33.1 (0.6) 30.02 (1016) W 9
6 PM (23) Nov 17 50.0 (10.0) 32.0 (0.0) 30 (1015) W 10
5 PM (22) Nov 17 51.1 (10.6) 33.1 (0.6) 29.97 (1014) WNW 10
4 PM (21) Nov 17 53.1 (11.7) 34.0 (1.1) 29.94 (1013) WNW 17
3 PM (20) Nov 17 54.0 (12.2) 35.1 (1.7) 29.9 (1012) W 16
2 PM (19) Nov 17 54.0 (12.2) 35.1 (1.7) 29.87 (1011) W 20
1 PM (18) Nov 17 55.0 (12.8) 36.0 (2.2) 29.84 (1010) W 21
Noon (17) Nov 17 55.0 (12.8) 37.0 (2.8) 29.82 (1009) W 17

So..... Although I realize that some forecasts are calling for strong winds aloft on Saturday,
I'm not ready to throw in the towel quite yet. ;-) We shall see....

Cooking on Saturday... if HR is blown out, let's play at Smithsburg and head over to the HR LZ for evening activities.

The Bay forecast is light for Saturday-- so I'm optomistic.

I wouldn't, however, mind doing a little FL practice at Smithsburg before going up to the rock.

I'm always up for some practice at Smithburg! See ya in the morning.
Hugh, I must've had a memory lapse (or flashback) in saying I was going to Kirschner's on Sat. haha

I'll have the accordion and veggie burgers too for festivities.

"Welcome to heaven; here's your harp."

"Welcome to hell; here's your accordion."

Somewhere I have a CD from three Russians we encountered busking in Vienna, Austria. "Eine Kleine Nachtmusik" on two balalaikas and an accordion!

OK, since no one else grabbed the easy part, I'm bringing a case of beer. Could use a bigger cooler to ice it all down... - Hugh

Unfortunately I have to work on Saturday, but MAYBE there will be a turn of fortune with the wind on Sunday and I'll fly with some of you then. Hope you have lots of fun, sorry I am missing out on the Saturday festivities.

I'm thinking of being a complete airpig: Get to Woodstock very early and fly during
the stronger part of the day, and then head to High Rock for a flight at the end of
the day. Any one else giving that some thought?

Hmmm..... Surface forecast has been backed way off at WS, and it now seems like a
"becoming West" type of day. On the plus side, the winds aloft forecast is still strong
NW. Hmmmm.....

Will be on the road soon, but plan to call Dan/Carlos/etc en-route, to confer
on what we see during the drive.

I'm headed up towards Smithsburg/HR right now. Will probably stop by Smithsburg first to see if anyone's there playing around but am planning on headed to HR at some point early afternoon. Hope there are still some people (observers especially!) planning on being there! I'll bring some wine, soft drinks and some snacks
