Dickey's

Post by Pete Schumann »

Flew Dickey's today. Launched late at about 4:00 after a visit to see my son Kev who was at New Market Battlefield with other VMI cadets doing a living history.

Flew until 5:30 in some great air, it was awesome lots of "Leaf Peepers". My landing flair was high and when I came down I twisted my right ankle some what, bummer! I had to limp up the mountain to get to my car. Normal hike up is under an hour but this trip took me 1.5 hours most in the dark but I had a mini lED light.

Glad you had a good flight and are okay. Nobody to give you a ride? You didn't fly alone did you?

I love the hike up though not so much during hunting season.

The usual guys I fly Dickey's with Tom M., Steve K. (out with ankle injury, must be in the air) and Joe S. couldn't go.
I'd thought some of the PG folks would be there since it was SW. Hiked my gear in great cycles coming in so I flew.

Not the safest thing to do
