Fisher's Saturday

Post by Matthew »

Good day at fishers- all PG flying. I flew down to Ritchie's Knob again -- got a little over an hour and about 500 over. It was tough going the last bit of the ridge. Ellis, Jim Kaplan, Lazlo, Matt Ingram and Dan all soared, with Dan landing way out in the valley in a field further away than the old tertiary, and the rest scattered along the ridge. Karen and Judy stopped to talk to the landowner of the old primary-- she was pleasant but does not want anyone landing in her field. The also stopped by to talk to the Reyens (sp?) about landing in the old secondary and old tertiary-- but no one was home. There was a big area of mud near their house and it looks like a bulding project has been halted. It might be worth a try to stop in and talk to them again. The launch area at Fisher was in decent shape-- we spent about half hour clearing out some brush and trimming weeds-- and Ellis almost stepped on a rattle snake!!!! So be careful in the woods.

We went to Bills afterward and Karen and Ellis flew. The launch area there is a disaster. There was enough wind to launch a PG from the top. However, there's no way to launch a hang glider because it it is too overgrown. We need to do a clean-up the next east day. It should only take about 90 minutes with a dozen pilots working.
