PG Instructors & Observers

Post by silverwings »

I commonly get emails or calls from existing or potential PG pilots looking to hookup with an instructor or observer. Unfortunately I do not know who to refer them to. I just checked USHPA (online) and Dwayne McCourt is no longer a member. So if any of you can post a list of contacts and info please do!

I get lots of these emails also. Right now I think Blue Sky is the only place in our region to get PG instruction. PG instruction must be more lucrative than HG, since the instructors don't ever have to move to DC for "real" jobs?

Try www.jamescob.com/slugfest He teaches powered paragliders, but you start by doing the footlaunch lessons and progress to towing with what I think is Spark's old towing rig.Afterwards you transition to the ppg stuff if that's what you want.He can certify ppg2 and I think also p2. Most of you would know him as Slugger,he came to a Pulpit flyin 4 or 5 years ago, drives a mopar convertible and pulls a trailer.Teaches at Shippensburg airport(grass airstrip)and lives in Waynesboro Pa, RichB

I used to be a PG instructor, but no more.
I'd be happy to help out with observer duties, if someone wanted to observerify me. (That's a word, right? of course it is....)
Who is in charge of that sort of thing hereabouts?

Used to be Ben Herrick (examiner who appointed PG observers). Not sure if he gave that up at the same time LE gave up regional director.

There is a PG instructor couple 90 minutes north of Philadelphia: Tony and Maria Bono www.pennsylvaniaparagliding.com. Judy McCarty has worked with and bought equipment from them.

I still want to hear more about Blue Sky Paragliding instructions???
That's completely new to me. Steve Wendt is shown at ushpa.org as instructor for hang gliding only. Doe she have a PG instructor working with him?
I suspect that his PG instruction is limited to teaching rated PG pilots how to tow.
Any confirmation from the Blue Sky regulars on this?

PG observers: Laszlo, Hugh, Matthew, Jim and me. Tom was interested in taking over observer duties. Not sure if he's one now.

Dwayne McCOURT is now listed as a PG instructor. He must have renewed.
