New Tool for Your Tree Kit

Post by CraginS »

I just stumbled across a pretty fine looking tool to add to the tree-rescue kit, and grabbed one for my gear bag:

The Pocket Chainsaw from Supreme Products. "World's Fastest Cutting Pocket Saw"
Cost me $20 at the Fort Myer Military Clothing Sales store.

Stores in a 3 inch round screw-top can, about the size of a snuff box or pomade tin (gratuitous reference to Oh, Brother, Where Art Thou?)
Check it out -

Ellis and I assisted a paraglider pilot who didn't quite get enough into his launch and landed in the short thorny trees below launch several weeks back. It was no trouble freeing the pilot as he was basically on the ground, but his wing was trapped in 8 to 10 foot high thorny trees. Ellis's portable folding saw enabled us to extract the wing with some time and effort. The tool Craig has described would have made much shorter work of it.
