I'm coming. Not sure what all to bring yet. I'm pretty sure Ellis is coming too.

A mystery pilot on his way to Maine might make a guest appearance.

Have fun down there. NW 15 mph, 450 fpm lift, could get as high as 6000', should be very few clouds. Top of lift winds should be around 20mph. Can't wait to hear how you all do.

Woodstock is an iffy call today..Wind forecast for there is showing northly winds. Sites in Pa would be a better call there the wind forecast seems to be more consistant NW..Pulpit or Cumberland sites might be the ticket today. Woodstock might be good but tough to tell with the wind forecast just thought Id throw my 2 cents in..good luck wherever u deceide to go!!

Headding for Woodstock... Who wants to meet up in the LZ for the equipment shuffle? Say Noon?

Beautiful sunny day!

Reasonable launch about 1:30 ... About a 20 min flight, but never did quite clear the top of the ridge. Started sinking out so I turned out for the LZ.

Really need to work DWF ... Set-up way high, got bumped up at the end of the approach, and made a decision to belly land on the wheels.

One good stroke of fortune ... I did miss the cow pie (see video) :?

Thanks Matthew for observing ... And for running shuttle (I thought that was my job) :D

It was good to get in the air for the first time in six months. Managed to make it to Strasburg, but not quite to my intended LZ, the Strasburg High School soccer field just east of the foot ball field. I stayed mostly in the 200-500 over range going down the ridge but managed one good thermal to 1100 by the resevoir.
Thanks Gary for picking me up and driving to launch.

Another fun day at Woodstock-- cast included Joe S., Chuck, Carlos, Steve, Gary Smith, Dan Tuck, Dan Tomlinson, Daniel B., Louis, Marc, Karen, me, Ellis, Lazlo, Matt and David O'Neil.

Gary Devan and David Bodner showed up to check things out and help out-- thanks guys!!!

I got just under two hours in the HG-- flew up to the Strasburg getting between 200 and 1500 over-- toppped out at 2400 over at the North point. It was a slow crawl back with lots of giant sink pockets. When I retrned to launch it started to go magic--- being able to stay at 1k over with no effort. I was the last HG in the air. I landed and ran a shuttle to the top while Dan, Matt, Steve and Lazlo launched PGs. All soared. Ellis had an excellent PG flight earlier in air that I thought was a bit tough for hang gliders.

Daniel, Karen and I raced back to the top and I observed David off, followed by Karen and eventually Daniel. David got up for a little while and Karen had a 25 minute flight 500 over in her PG after an hour flight earlier in her hang gldier that included a low save. It was Karen's first PG flight at Woodstock! It toook a while for Daniel to launch and he sledded to the LZ. He caught the last cycle of the day and then it went dead calm at launch. Dan and Carlos returned to help hold my canopy up and I did a running reverse in a maybe 1mph wind, bounding from rock to rock to get out of the slot. I found a little lift for a smal climb of 50 feet at 200 below launch and then got hammerd with sink such that I was worried about making the LZ. Found a little more lift over the river to get me into the LZ and landed running fast in a catabatic wind.

Dan, Carlos, Daniel, karen and I finished the day at a Mexican restaurant in Front Royal.
