Pulpit 2/28

Post by XCanytime »

Looking good again for the Pulpit the last day of February. The work has already been done! Who's interested this time?

I'll be there around 10 and set up streamers in the primary LZ.

Darn!!! Was just gonna send my chute to BlueSky for a re-pack... guess it can wait a few more days. Count me in if it's above 40 degrees or so.

We're in!!! Though it looks a little breezy-- High Rock might be better. We will bring some cinder blocks to help get up to the stairs on the crumbling cube if High Rock is the call.

Aviation synopsis the Hagerstown area...

NORTHWEST FLOW WILL CONTINUE SATURDAY NIGHT THROUGH SUNDAY NIGHT.
WIND GUSTS SUNDAY AFTERNOON/EVENING ARE EXPECTED TO BE AROUND 20-25
KNOTS. VFR CONDITIONS ARE EXPECTED MOST OF THE TIME SATURDAY NIGHT
THROUGH SUNDAY NIGHT. HOWEVER...CIGS MAY BE CLOSE TO MVFR LEVELS AT
TIMES ESPECIALLY SUNDAY MORNING. AN ISOLATED RAIN/SNOW SHOWER MAY
IMPACT THE TERMINALS DURING THIS TIME...BUT MUCH OF THE TIME WILL
TURN OUT DRY.

NW flow coming from a wrap-around low in New England. High pressure to build in Sunday evening/night and establish for Monday.

Good luck with things...

Starting to look a little dicy for spitting snow/rain around the Pulpit Sunday ... High Rock may be a little better ... Woodstock looks nice but potentially light (any guesses on the road conditions?)

I am sure the road at woodstock is closed. Although, Woodstock looks like the best bet to me. I will likey pass though.

Mmm ... I think I'm going to pass today, and keep the good will with my wife for the next run.

Have fun out there!

Whee! We went "hang-driving"! Ward, Bacil, Dan Tuck, Luis. (I still have 5 more days in a cast, so was designated driver. Maybe coulda hopped off launch...) Snow drifts in the access road to Pulpit launch, blown out anyway. Showed Luis Smithsburg, High Rock (no set-up area, still some strong gusts, access to LZ doubtful).

P.S. Dan Tuck says CAD drawings for new High Rock launch will be ready very soon!
New date for meeting is 18 March. Dave Bodner's house, I think.
Don't wait to be nagged: send your 2010 dues to Dan. Many checks for 2009 dues were never cashed, timed out. Please check your check book and send 'em in again. The club is doing great work improving and preserving our launches, getting partially reimbursed by Free Flight Foundation. With a strong new leadership team, your checks will be handled promptly.
