Fun on Monday?

OPM closed the Federal Government. Pulpit or skiing?

I just heard about the closing, can't believe it, what a scam! :)

Wisconsin Ave was _fine_ today, and I even went into work in order to
take a few photos. The lots were in good shape, all sidewalks plowed.
You've just got to laugh!

Unfortunately, I didn't take advantage of today for gift wrapping, etc,
so will have to weigh a Pulpit day vs. getting the out-of-town packages
done and mailed out.

But I'll be looking at it, absolutely! Anyone else giving it some thought?

Well, ya had me going - charging radios, making phone calls - but Ellis sees 20-30 knots at 3000. The lower overhead of paragliding had an appeal - no setting up and attempting to land in 2 feet of snow. So I think I'm bailing unless someone makes a persuasive argument. - Hugh
P.S. Might think about doing some Christmas shopping - don't want to jump the gun though. There are still a coupla days before it gets serious...

Gee Hugh, have you gone so far to the dark side that you don't even remember hang gliders can handle 20-30 knots at altitude?

I had visions of no place to stash a vehicle by the LZ due to the snow banks, so I stayed home to take care of chores. I even did some of them.

Oh, paragliders will handle 20-30 knots at altitude too, if it's smooth and you are ready to go over the back. Daniel and I took off with hang-gliders from the new gravel Pulpit ramp in 17-19 back in May. I had full wire crew even then. Seemed like some kind of an upper limit...

Check out the Ozone.com site for their new PG with battens! Carbon fiber, stay in permanently and the thing still packs into a backpack like any other PG. It's a comp wing of course, but one hopes we will see the technology come down the line to recreational gliders. - Hugh

Got 1:15 at Lookout on my falcon. The sun made a very rare appearance and tons of birds came out to play.
