Looks like either Daniel's or Highland for Saturday (11/7). Can't decide which. Text calls for SW 5-10 for Daniel's and 10-15 for the bay. Every time we've gone to Daniel's when it's 5-10, it's been dead calm at launch. I think there is a little of the Woodstock effect at Daniel's. Plus the slot at Daniel's was a mess when we were there last and it's not really safe for forward launches.
Anyone interested in organizing a clean-up at Daniel's to clear the brush???? We've only been down to Daniel's twice this year and I think it would be best to have the clean-up organized by someone who flies there regularly-- plus there are a whole lot of pilots who fly Dainel's for which I have no contact info.

Re: Flying Saturday???
Any day you can fly is a good one, but Sunday may be the better of the two at least for Highland.

Re: Flying Saturday???
I like using the Buoyancy/Shear ratio as a guide. It’s the relationship of thermal strength to wind speed; the smaller the number the more ripped up the thermals will be. Saturday’s numbers in the area are in the 4 and 5 range; that’s pretty ripped up. Sunday is showing 8 and 9. That’s pretty good.
With those numbers and a TFR up, I’ll be waxing the glider Saturday and flying it on Sunday.

A bunch of PG flew Daniels today. The forecasted wind was nowhere as strong and the first flights at noon where sledders. Thermals got more consistent and we all had great flights with little wind but with good updrafts so lot's of thermaling.

Flying Saturday at Blue Sky
I liked the 6-10 S forecast, perfect for the Blue Sky runway. Arrived about 12:30 and saw four glders set or setting up.
Winds were solid in direction, but stronger than expected. As Danny suggeted, no soaring to be had. Several pilots had one flight each; I flew three times.
Good tows; I reached 1150 and 1250 on first two runs from the truck. Release popped early on the third at 600. Tow of the day was a newer pilot on a Falcon, last tow of the day, who reached close to 1800'.
I was very pleased with my three close in, no-step landings in the moderate wind.
Off to Highland for Sunday for a two-park weekend.
