I am heading for Ridgely. Even if lift is light, I'll get in some practice tows while Highland is still open. Could be good...never know if you're not there.

Arrived at Highland around 11am. Thought I had somehow slipped into a parallel universe...John Simmond was already there. It didn't look exactly stellar, but I wanted to get some tow practice so I took off at noon. Better than it looked and I got about 50 minutes. Second flight a little later Brain dead soarable, I flew til I was ready to land and got a little less than 1.5 hrs. Others in the universe: John & Heather, Ward, Tim, Steve K, Joe G, John M, and others I have probably forgotten. Schweeeet, you shoulda been there.

Sweet is righ. The forecast called for 3000 feet or so at 200-300 fpm, but I got to 3800 and there were others up there or higher. Mostly 200-300 but some nice 350 and 450 stuff. Totally sweet and enjoyable up there with 5 or 6 gliders just zooming around. We had tons of eagles up there, 2 immature baldies flew with Steve and I for about 20-30 minutes. One adopted Steve and joined off his wing for about 10 minutes then came over and flew with me for a few minutes, 5 feet off my right wingtip. Then a couple adults came in. It was just sweet.
Later in the day, Travis flew his (almost brand new) Sonic for the first time. Great day for all. 2 Hot air balloons launched a bit later plus I think I saw the skydivers soaring!

Take Care,
John
