Gary's Beach today (Wed)

Post by jimrooney »

First I gotta thank Steve for giving me the heads up.
We weren't sure about the forecast, but decided it was worth a look. Boy howdie did that pay off :)

When I showed up, Steve already had his HG setup, but it was a bit light (10ish) and a bit cross. So we decided I should dummy it in my PG and went over to the PG takeoff. The first pass was a bit itchy-scratchy, but as soon as I climbed over tree height, it was all sweet. Cross up top, but not horrible. I just boated all over the place... drove around like I had an engine... wicked fun.

Landed on the beach where Steve was doing some kiting and we hiked up and threw him off on his HG. His results seemed very similar to mine... the first pass was weak and scratchy, but as he cleared the treeline... happyland.

Oh yeah, lots of bald eagles out today. Very cool to fly with them.

I got some short videos... not sure if the youtube embedding stuff works yet, but you can always just go to youtube ;)

Happy times!
Thanks again Steve.

I extended my range south down to the marina/lighthouse and north of launch maybe half mile. I think I could have kept going north -- even where there is no cliff there is still a tree line and the beach is all landable.

Damn, I thought that was a cliff overlooking the broadening part of the river, but that's more of a bay with a long fetch for pumping up the winds. Sweet.

Gary's parents are super friendly :D

I've got some other video from down on the beach that I'll try and upload today.
