George Tutor services information

Post by Richard Hays »

A memorial service for George is planned for this Thursday at Ehkerts ( spelling ? ) Funeral home in Manchester, Md. The location address is: 3296 Charmill Road; Manchester Md. Its about 15 minutes north of Reisterstown Md.

The time will be 6-8pm.

George will be laid to rest on Friday ( 10am? ) at Dulaney Valley Memorial Gardens which is located on Padonia Road in Cockeysville Md. 21030

I would recommend calling Dulaney Valley Memorial Gardens for the exact time because Suzanne was not 100% sure that 10am was the time but thought it was.

I'm sure flowers and stuff would be appreciated too.

Map for George Tutor services information

All,
I built a 3 page PDF with maps to help get to the funeral home Thursday evening for the memorial service. The forum will not let me upload it here as an attachment, but I will e-mail it to anyone who wants it. The file is ~240 KB.
Send me an email to my gmail address, below, if you want a copy sent to you.
DO NOT USE the forum private message (PM) feature to ask for a copy - I will not see PM in time to send you the file.

George Tutor service

Post by CraginS »

I misunderstood the schedule information, thought things were to be from 6 to 8. After 2 1/2 hour drive from Alexandria, got there about 5:45. Small but growing crowd. Turned out the service was set for 8. I was able to meet Susanne, and speak with George's mom, Nancy, and his dad. A few awkward words with daughter Jessica, who had a sizable support crowd of classmates there. By 7:30 the funeral home seemed nearly overflowing - much bigger crowd than seating available.
Danny, Rich, Leigh & Alex, Matt & Karen, Rusty, Bob B, and Bacil were all there. George's photo showed him in his sailor blues and cupcake hat - fine looking sailor. There was a flag folded on the coffin. The local Civil Air Patrol cadet squadron provided an honor guard.
With an overflow crowd, and a long drive ahead, I departed before the actual service. Othere may have words about the formal part of the evening.
It's never easy to go to a funeral. But it's often something you need to do. Kinda went for myself. Kinda went for George's family. Nancy is holding up ok, for now' she knows that may change in a few days. Prayers for them all.

On behalf of George and his family and Suzanne; I'd like to thank everyone who made the long trip to pay tribute and respects. I know some of you drove an insane distance in rush hour(s) to get there. Thank you.

Both clubs sent flowers and both arrangements were beautiful and greatly appreciated.

As Cragin had said; the attendence was packed and standing room only. Graveside service the following day was more modest. Afterwards me, Leigh, Leighs' brother and niece, Bob and Doreen and Suzanne and the kids had lunch and brews at Padonia Station in Cockeysville. Not much was said. We just chatted about stuff.

Life is fragile, short and sweet. Enjoy every moment and love your friends and family like it was their last day on earth. It just could be.
