Flying 6/21

Looking Woodstocky and SACy for Father's Day Sunday. Who's up for the SAC if it turns out to be NNW?

I'm looking at Woodstock. It might be kind of light but we'll see. The SAC is too far of a drive home for me. But I'll be up for the SAC anytime starting next month.

I've got my fingers crossed for HIgh Rock late on Sunday as the field has been hayed.

Both woodstock and Sac look like they are shaping up (Friday AM), I am leaning toward Woodstock as it is a shorter drive. Keeping an eye on the weather.

Leaning more towards Woodstock since the backside of the departing low will still be swirling up by the SAC, possible stirring up some showers. It will be an early one for me, since I've got somewhere to be in the late PM.

Also thinking the 'Stock on Sunday, at least as of the Friday PM
forecasts. Hey Bacil, you should plan on a Father's Day party
at that same winery where you celebrated Mother's Day... Land
out and have them meet you with a glass of their best! 8)

I plan to be at launch early, like around 9 am. Hope to see lots of you.

BTW - I had an intimate conversation with an immature bald eagle today. Oh yes, it's on film....

Looks like WNW early, then going more northerly later in the day.
So I think I'll be looking to arrive around 10, 10:30. Urf, I hate
getting up early, hang gliding has ruined my life!!

I wonder if late in the day isn't a better bet. It looks like it's going to howl in the morning and back off and turn back towards the west late this afternoon.

Any thoughts?

I will be hosting Luis Chang, a newly arrived Peruvian diplomat, experienced HG pilot (450 hours in Peru and South Africa, flies a U2). I figure even arriving at 1030, by the time we set up we will be in the teeth of the gale, but I would like to show Luis the LZs and we will drop a car down there - it always takes me such a long time to get ready. So if we have to wait, well, where would you rather be on Father's Day? - Hugh

I am planning on arriving at about 3:00 PM and flying late. It's already windy here in Woodbridge and I've found it's usually a good indicator of what is happening there. Today is the longest day of the year. A 7:00 PM launch can easily result in a 90 minute flight in smooth evening air.
