Stronger than Saturday but straight in. Tom and I flew down to Harrisonburg. Haven't done that in a million years. Never saw Tom. That's because he was 2k+ over me the whole flight. But lower worked ok. The ridge was solid and tanking up generally consisted of a few S turns. Fun day.

Re: Woodstock 5/31
Met Greg Sessa (fairly new H2) in the LZ at 1:00 where we left his car and went to the top. Was suprised that it was moderately strong at launch and I even brought my PG thinking that it would be a lot less. Tom and Joe were there and later Steve K, Gary S, and Bruce E showed up. We were getting 15mph quite common probably from thermals coming through and little quieter time. Tom launched around 4:00 and I asked him via radio what he thought about H2 & Falcon flying and he said that it wasn't bad. Joe got a real quiet launch window and then Greg had to wait a little bit for a suitable window where he had a good launch. Then Steve, followed by me (in my HG of course) at 4:48, and then Gary launched. The air was quite nice for the first hour and then seemed to get a little stronger and more turbulent. Landed after flying for about 1:25. Greg landed a little bit later with a good approach and air speed. Overall a nice flying day. Thanks Bruce for helping everybody.

John pretty much summed up the day. Overall, I would say it was a great day for flying! I had the opportunity to enjoy a 2 hour flight while cruising down one side of the ridge and back along the other, and even reached altitudes around 2,800 ft. above launch. I was able to set personal records for both altitude and time in the air. Thanks John for observing me for the day!

Hi, Greg-
Welcome to this life expanding sport and congratulations on your soaring flight at Woodstock! Please keep posting about your flights. Reading reports of early accomplishments are just as exciting -- maybe more -- for the community as are the tales of the cross country exploits of our local sky-gods.
Congratulations, also to John for fledging yet another mountain H2.
Blue skies,
Daniel
P.S. If you don't have the club's novice pilot guide for working with observers, send me a PM with your e-mail and I'll send you a copy.

Re: Woodstock 5/31
Wow. Nice job Greg!
I knew I should have stopped to fly. I was driving home from the Pulpit down 81 and saw gliders set up on launch. But no one was in the air, it seemed pretty strong in the valley, and I still had 5 hours to drive so I just kept on driving. Damn!
Seriously, great job. I look forward to flying with you again.
