emergency landing in Hudson

Post by brianvh »

I thought I should point out in case anyone missed it...the pilot who performed the textbook emergency landing in the Hudson with no engines: he was an experienced glider pilot. Not hang gliding, but close enough to feel some satisfaction.

I was wondering about that since he did such a fine job. The flight attendant who stopped the passenger from opening the rear door should also be commended (since it gave the passengers enough time to get out). The AVweb had a little report on some of the big planes that have landed in the water, including the one my brother and his wife survived (Ethiopian Airlines ditching by the Comoros Islands after being hi-jacked and running out of fuel). Rich and I got to view the US Airways flight at BWI shortly before boarding our flight to Tampa for the long weekend. (It was sunny and warm yesterday.)
