Sounds a lot better than hanging pictures and yard work.... I'm in if Hugh's willing to throw me off for a first HR flight. Time? Place?

Willing. Have you walked the LZ? There are some features... (So maybe meet there. Know how to get there? I defer to Danny to call the time.) Cliff launch also has some unique technique, so if conditions are right this would be a good learning experience. Need sufficient wirecrew... - Hugh

Have NOT walked the LZ. Vaguely know how to get there... should be able to find it with some extra time for wrong turns.
(I can always try to decipher the site guide).

Possibility of precipitation has dropped for this afternoon from yesterday's forecast. NOAA says the precip goes away in Hagerstown after about noon. From our expert weather prognosticator at the gliderport:

"The cold front is passing right now and the airmass should give cloud bases around 5000'with Cu's this afternoon, some ridges should be working late in the day while wave is possible too up to 10,000'."

Don't look out the window this am... it sounds like a doable afternoon is sneaking in on us.

Give us a time. Tony and I will get there a bit earlier to walk the LZ, get him set up and throw him off first. - Hugh
P.S. Trying to talk Marc Fink into borrowing Ellis' Sport 2 and coming out.

I'm down to give it a shot. Mind watching another 2, Hugh? I've flown there a bunch of times including Thursday, a week ago - http://www.chgpa.org/forums/viewtopic.p ... 605#p17044

I am heading to Dickey's. Looks southwest to me and improving 5-8, a perfect Dickey's day if the forecast holds. I plan to be there by 1100 and will drive to launch. Zelda is driving today.

Lessee, in order of launch: Carlos, Dan Tuck, Tony Dilisio (first launch at HR), Kelvin, Chris Dombrosky (Polonus), Hugh, Danny B., and late arrival Mike Lee. Everyone soared at will. Dan T. stayed up (freezing) for over 2 hours. I landed after an hour because I was cold; got 2000 above launch. The clouds were working. Wind was straight in at launch 5-10 although the clouds were showing a decided west cross. As the day progressed, cloud cover solidified and temperature dropped. An unexpectedly good day! - Hugh

Another great day at High Rock. It was lots of fun sharing the ridge with a bunch of people including a sailplane. The flight was my longest at 2:05. I've been looking to break the 2 hour mark for a while so as soon as I did, I burned up some altitude, said goodbye to the spectators and headed out to land. I wasn't that cold, it was just my hands - they were freezing! Time for some bar mits. It was a really fun flight, with smooth air but thermals working, especially down at the NE end of the ridge. Max altitude was 1,200' over. Thank to Hugh for watching me, and also Tony for the ride back up. And congrats on your first High Rock flight.

Congratulations, Dan and Tony. Really enjoyed the video. - Hugh
P.S. Let the record reflect that both these gentlemen, in accordance with the published Official H2 Protocol, supplied their observer with appropriate liquid refreshments before and after flying, respectively.
