Re: SAC/High Rock Sunday 10/19
Has anybody flown the SAC on a PG? If yes, does anybody have an idea of what skills are necessary for launching there? Is it P2-able? If yes, can anybody get me in contact with whoever has flown a PG there? And do you know how recently the last PG flight there was? (i.e. have the trees at the bottom grown 6 feet since then?) Or is it being flown regularly by PG?
thanks

I don't believe the SAC has ever been flown by a paraglider. You need to contact Joe Gorrie/Shawn MacDuff about the specific site protocol, or look on the Hyner website. Janni, tomorrow is going to be great at the SAC, and Sunday should have enough leftovers from tomorrow. Best to get there early if you're going Sunday just in case.

You have my attention. Big P-40 expires at 1 PM? - Hugh
Re: SAC/High Rock Sunday 10/19
I don't know, guys - I'm not a very good weather guesser, but isn't that an awful lot of north to be any good? - Hugh
Re: SAC/High Rock Sunday 10/19
Yes Hugh,
I think you are right.
Too north for HR
Not easterly enough for Bill's
The Sac is too far and don't even have paper work done for it
I might try to kite behind my house.

Re: SAC/High Rock Sunday 10/19
Another site checked off in my book. Unfortunately, by the time I launched things had backed off and gotten pretty cross out of the NE. Bacil and Joe Gorrie helped - thanks. Hit a strong thermal on the way out but was too low to start turning (for my comfort). I also hit some serious sink. Still had a nice short flight and a great landing. Bummer;
I was ready to trek on up, but I had the impression nobody else was going. I did not want to fly alone.
Glad you got some good air, it had all the signs of a good day in the AM.

Re: SAC/High Rock Sunday 10/19
What would I be doing predicting the SAC 5 days out? Getting everybody else planning ahead and not me?
I think I laid it on thick enough that it was pretty evident I was heading there.
A few more pics to show what the early bird(s) got. Dan had a perfect flight.

Re: SAC/High Rock Sunday 10/19
Congrats Bacil and Dan. (Great pictures)
It sounds like you were the only ones to fly in the region.
Bacil what paperwork do you need to fly there?

Re: SAC/High Rock Sunday 10/19
Carlos,
You should be able to access the waivers for Sacramento on the Hyner Club website. If not, Joe Gorrie, who lives at the foot of the mountain, has copies that he can bring to launch for you to fill out. That is what Dan did yesterday, get them from Joe. Just give Joe a call previous to coming up to the site.

Re: SAC/High Rock Sunday 10/19
Bacil has been inviting me up to fly the Sac for at least 10 years and I've never taken him up on it. I'm going to change that when I get back.
Great pics and great flights guys!
Thanks,
The Dan T in Baghdad
PS Mark C, I'm still waiting for that package in the mail. I know a bunch of guys who want to see what hanggliding is really like.

Nice flying Bacil and Dan. I'm still stuck on midnights in the middle of an outage. I look forward to some late fall and winter flying once this gets over with.
