Prospects for the mountains don't seem all that great this weekend, so I'm leaning
towards a towing day tomorrow. NE@5-10, decreasong humidity, mid-80s... Seems
worth a shot, and traffic shouldn't be all that bad mid-long-weekend (one hopes!).
Anyone else thinking about it?

I'm still inclined to HIghland.
The direction looks perpendicular to launch path, but as long it is not strong it should be OK.
At Bill's it looks almost north, but light enough; paragliders?

Talked to Adam this monrning. It's strong NE this morning-- expected to back off later. We're heading to Ridgely for later day flying today. Looks good for Bill's on Labor Day.

Wow, Highland was workin' today! I launched at around 3pm, and took a boomer
off of tow (thanks Zack!) up to 5000+ . From there it was boat-around and have
fun sightseeing, with gliders everywhere and the tandems soaring. I topped out
at 6300 MSL, drifting towards Denton in a thermal that I had pimped off of
Matthew. Really neat, was down to about 3k, saw the tug release Matthew, and
then I could literally see his nose up on his first turn. So I pulled VG and ran
over there, getting into the thermal a couple hundred below him. Then we dueled
it out, trying to max out our climbs. WAY fun!
Wind direction at the end of the day was NW and NNW, which was a pleasant
surprise given the forecasts. Totally blue, no clouds to help us out on this day...
I didn't go anywhere, but a couple pilots did try for an out-and-back to Massey
Airport. One made it (Mauricio? Maybe one of his buddies?), and a couple others
came up short on the return leg.
Carpooled with Carlos, and we shared the skies with Karen & Matthew, Christian,
Tad, Mauricio, and three pilots I didn't get to meet. Kirk was there, and he had a
couple more solos at the very end of the day: seems like he's really making
some progress!
It was COLD up there!!! Ver nice!
