Friday Anyone?
Can I interest anyone in going out on Friday? I'm taking a personal day from teaching.

Friday plans
I'm guessing either Jacks or Fisher Rd. I haven't flown Fisher road in a long time. I guess I'll wait and decide in the a.m.

Friday the 13th @ Jacks
It was a good day at Jacks. Although winds were a bit cross from the South, it was soarable by 3pm and glassed off at about 5pm. The gang included me, Jim & Teresa, Shawn MacDuff, Joe Gorrie, Bob & Cookie Beck, and Dave 'Spoons'.
After helping to launch Jim, I flew the Falcon 225 and stayed between 250' and 700' over, snapping photos. It was a bit topo strong and corss for the PG. There was a sailplane race going on and sailplanes were screaming by launch every 15 or 20 minutes.
After awhile I landed and helped Jim fly a second time. Although both flights looked great, I think he liked his second flight best.
Everyone else flew to the airport.

An airport in the valley behind launch, northwards.

Mifflin
RVL "Mifflin County Airport"
There is a small but active commercial towing operation operating out of Mifflin.
Regional contest out of Mifflin starts Saturday the 14th. Yesterday was likely a "practice" day.

There "used" to be two VFR corridors in the "Mickey Mouse ears"-shaped
Terminal Control Area, one running N-S between Dulles and National, the
other E-W midway between BWI and Andrews. The advent of the ADIZ
pretty much did away with them, although the VFR TAC chart shows some
suggested routes for low/slow traffic. You have to get assigned a
transponder code to operate in the ADIZ and the controllers want to be
able to "see" your transponder signal - sometimes ask you to climb to
stay in the radar picture. (So a real terrorist could just fly "knap
of the earth" and likely not be detected.) You "never" could just
motor down the Potomac without talking to the controllers. That said,
I was flying my family back from Amherst VA one 4th of July evening and
the controller said "I suppose you want to watch the fireworks." and
gave me an orbit east of the river and south of the Mall... - Hugh

Nice shots. How do you handle the camera in flight? Do you have a
lanyard tied to your harness - or wrist? - Hugh
