Details, details. So I get ahead of myself. Are we flying or what?
Saturday looks best, south and very light.
Sunday more cloud cover and much more wind, still south.
What would Bacil say?

Sunday looks better to me-- Intellicast and meteograms show light SE for Saturday and SW 10-15 for Sunday. ADDS shows SW both days. Sunny or mostly sunny both days.

Re: Weekend Flying July 19-20
I think I'll be at the LZ Saturday at 11:00.
I flew the Pulpit today with Ben and Tom. Ben's Dad came out too, and watched, drove, joined us for dinner. It was not good flying, but we had a good time nonetheless. We had sledders, extendos, and extended extendos. There was a large rattle snake on launch working a furry creature (chipmonk, likely) down his throat, head first, so only the hind legs were showing, and the tail. Bummer.... for the chipmonk. So laying out the wing was the real danger today!
We need to get a work party together; the brush is tall and blocking the streamers and the view of the wind in the brush and trees below, and the snakes, too. Hey, Carl, can you help with this? Jim

Indeed Sunday may be a bit better now.
I'll still plow out to Daniel's today just because. Looks better in the afternoon as winds get a little fuller, SSE.
Winds tomorrow are now forecast to max out at 11 or 12, straight south.

So are Tom and Ben members of CHGPA or have they bought their Pullpit stickers? We pay for the Pulpit and being a club member or buying a sticker is a requirement to fly there.

So that was an interesting weekend of flying?
Let's hope for good weather next weekend...
Thanks to Fred and Charlie for the rides to launch at Daniels.
And to everyone for the site work at Launch! It looks a LOT better.

Re: Weekend Flying July 12-13
Yeah, thanks to everybody who helped out at Daniel's today (which was: everybody).
Thanks for site cleanup to Charlie and his helpers (son Andy with friend Mike), Dave, Jeff, Jim, Karen, Matthew and Tomas. I don't think anybody missed out on any flying while taking a whack at the bushes (doing it while parawaiting) and we didn't have to take anybody to the hospital with heat stroke. Yet, we still made significant progress. It looks infinitely better than it did on Saturday. We actually have a running path now and almost enough room to do an abort. Also some of the small trees at the bottom are gone now.
And thanks mucho to Charlie and his asssistants and Fred with his cool Pinzgauer for driving us up and down the mountain!
About the flying: it was exciting. If you weren't there, you shoulda been.
Charlie flew his brand spanking new Sport IV. Ooohh.... nice crinkly sail... Some pilots had to sniff it... Charlie likes it a lot. Maybe he'll post a review once he's flown it for a while. I certainly would be interested in hearing about it.
My vote for flight of the day goes to Jim.

Re: Weekend Flying July 19-20
Hey,
I got 35 minutes on my second flight and 1400 over. And I stayed way out front in the valley and arrived at the LZ at 600' AGL with plenty of altitude for an easy approach and a nice safe uneventful landing. That's gotta count for something.

Re: Weekend Flying July 19-20
I too had a nice flight, after 2 six minute sleds. Was up for 30 minutes and got to 1,300 over launch in my brand new Airwave Sport IV (it's maiden flights). Used the speed bar and big ears to get down -- behaved very nicely. I'm looking forward to some nice flying in my future. I'll be selling my DHV-1 Paratech P-27 once I get it professionally repaired (hit the trees at Bill's Hill about a month or so ago).
