Forecast is looking perfect for the Pulpit. Janni and I are definitely in. I would hope that more show up for what is shaping up to be a stellar day.

Count me out if Janni is going, conditions seem to really suck every time he goes out:-) Seriously, I should be there with you guys it's looking like a fly home day.

I hope to get out Sunday too. Let's hope for a Pulpit day (but I agree with Larry. Maybe we should send Janni to Woodstock).

I think I'll give the Pulpit a try tomorrow, ETA 10 am. Early birds are more than welcome to call me to make car pool arrangements. Let's protect the environment as well as our wallets. I'm in Bethesda, 240-481-6337.

Re: Pulpit 6/15
Carpooled with Dave Bodner and Carlos and arrived at the Pulpit at 11 am. It was doing a lot of N and kind of light, but the sky was filling up with beautiful cumies. Tom, Dave Procter and Steve Kinsley decided to head to HR for better air. We debated HR but stayed because the forecast predicted things to swing around later. Seeing Pete Lehmann set up his glider was also a good indicator for good flying conditions ahead
It did turn W and got even lighter, solid thermal cycles came through reliably though. Some soared, some sledded, Pete (who's fluent in German), Bruce, a PG pilot whose name I forgot and the Red Baron went OTB
Climbed quickly to 2000 over launch in a strong thermal, drifted back with it while climbing and headed into the valley 3500' over. To my right were Pete and the PG pilot at cloud base drifting SE for great XC flights
I decided not to follow them, possibly a big mistake. When my lift started getting weaker I pulled 3/4 vg and shot straight for that massive cloud downwind of me. That thing, and I kinda guessed that, was unfortunately dying and no lift to be had, at least I couldn't find any. I tried to survive in a small thermal coming from the tree line downwind of a brown, swampish field but could only maintain 500' until I, uhm, could not. Landed on 995 next to R 16 between Mercersburg and Greencastle, 11 miles according to my 76S, so I'm still a lawn dart.
Primary is a mess, super high crops and grass, hopefully it will be mowed soon.
