Florida Report

Post by Paul Tjaden »

While you guys have been sitting around talking about possible flying tomorrow or blowing up huge boulders at the Pulpit, I have been flying!!!! We arrived home late Thursday after stopping in the Florida Panhandle a couple of days for Lauren to shoot a video. It was good to get home but we sure miss all our great freinds that we got to see while we were at Ridgely and DC. Anyway, conditions were pretty damn good today and I flew a 44 mile out and back to Wallaby Ranch. Launching early at about 11:30, I nearly suunk out but at 600', spotted a bird climbing about 200 yards away and followed him to CB which was only about 4,000'. The trip to Wallaby was uneventful but slow with the low base, crappy climbs below 2,500', and a crossing head wind but after surviving another save from 800' down by Wallaby, the trip home was much quicker and higher with CB rising to 5,300'. Total time was 3:23 but most was spent on the way down. Lauren was not feeling well today so I flew alone but listened on my radio to a bunch from Wallaby who were doing what I was doing in reverse. Spotted a few of them but several landed out proving once again that Quest pilots are "choice the better" (it's an inside joke).

Tomorrow looks pretty good again, I'll let you know. Hope the Pulpit is working and you all get hypoxia!!!
