I'd like to go if there is an observer that can show me the ropes of the Pulpit. Email or PM if interested. tdilisio at yahoo com

Have you taken Bacil's place, Matthew? A bit early to get people aroused, I find, but hell, I'll be in if your forecast skills hold water. Looks like I'm out of luck for the ECC

Whats the status of the grass height at either the Pulpit or High Rock? I might be game for making a rare appearence Sunday. Knee is not acting up as much right now.

For all you Northern Virginians, be aware that they are shutting down the Woodrow Wilson Bridge to 1-Lane at 9:00pm on Friday until sometime Sunday afternoon. They say Noon, but I haven't seen them meet a deadline yet. Last time they did this it caused 90 minute delays.

Not sure about grass height. it was okay at HR three weeks ago. Janni said it was high two weekends ago at Pulpit. If so, I'll probably fly my bag.

As to Tony's query, I'm an Observer. However, if the grass is more than three feet high, then I'm not so sure I'd be willing to send off a relatively new hang 2.

If the grass is higher than 3' I don't know if I WANT to land. If conditions are good, I'd aim to land on the Golf Course. Closer to beer anyway .... FORE!!!

Is the golf course big enough for a Litespeed? How do I get there from the road for inspection? Can we put streamers up there?

There are streamers at the end of every fairway. There are multiple streamers on the wide open driving range behind the clubhouse. Easy to land a LiteSpeed at the Great Cove Golf Course. I've landed on a fairway and the driving range without any problem.

Stupid question: Why do we land in the breakneck secondary and the downhill dead wind primary if we can land there?

I am in for flying Sunday, but it looks like Woodstock to me. And I am an observer too.

3 cents worth from a very inexperienced pilot:
Like Bacil I do believe in weather patterns. With this type of forecast WS has been almost dead the last three times I was there. The WS effect has been a curse this year. The forecast looks perfect for the pulpit, even HR but I would prefer the Pulpit to finally get a chance of going over the back this year. I will go there if we can get a small contingent of pilots together and if the forecast remains.

I also think it looks too light for Woodstock. Would prefer the Pulpit for a biwingwal day. High Rock is closer and you can get home earlier on a Sunday night. But I guess we'll have to make the final call on Sun. morning.

I'm wanting to fly the Pulpit. Right now the bay forecast is west 15 to 20 knots, which is dead nuts Woodstock, but the temp drop between Saturday and Sunday is miniscule, which usually means the Pulpit. We'll have to see what happens to the forecast tomorrow. I'm remembering a banner day at the Pulpit on June 1, 2002 where 4 pilots made it to High Rock and another went 60 miles. I'm thinking the same possibilities will be present Sunday at the Pulpit.

I think the real determinant will be the surface pressure map on Sunday morning. The isobars will tell the tale. Bacil

If Woodstock's doable, and there's a contingent going... and if I can line up an observer, I'll be there on Sunday. Kathy

Ditto here.... I'm game for whatever location works out, if there's going to be an observer present.

Here's trick from my hang 2 days. Call an Observer directly. Or at least email them directly. Also, line up a back up Observer in case the first choice can't make it for some reason.

Count me in for Sunday, either the Pulpit or Wstock, whichever looks better.
Haven't had an XC flight all season, would be great to go somewhere!
Hopefully tomorrow's casts will point us one way or the other...
