Another great day at Bill's

Post by Matthew »

Mixed bag of sleds, extendos and thermal flights early--- then it turned on BIG TIME a little after 5pm. Got up to 1000 over, flew down to the turnpike and back in my bag and top landed after 1:10 so I could Observe Kathy C. and New Dan in HGs. Both had good launches and Kathy got in a few passes along the ridge. Other HGs included Carlos, Pete L., Larry Huffman, Pat Brooks, Gardinator, Shawn Ray, David C. and a H2 from Hyner.

PGs included Ellis, Karen, Charlie, Lazlo, Florent, Ron, David from Laurel, Juanito, taking his kids on tandems, and Juaninto's wife Cynthia.

This is twice now it's turned on at Bill's at around 5pm. So if you go to Bill's and you leave early, you're making a big mistake.

Pete L got up. Shawn got up for a bit, as did the Gardinator. Larry and Pat Brooks got up on their second flights. No HGs launched during the easiest part of the day to stay up-- 5-6:30pm

It was a beautiful day and wind direction was good all day although light. Bills is such a great site... its nice to fly there when possible. Perhaps five hours of driving for one great five-minute flight didn't turn out to be what I was hoping for, but it seems like you have to try a few times to appreciate the truly boo-wah days. If only the wind had been a little stronger, or if I had launched a little later, or if launch was 5000 ft higher.
