Ridgely Saturday????

Post by Matthew »

Winds speed forecast has backed off a bit for Saturday-- bay is calling for SE 10-15 and NOAA is calling for light becoming SE 10-13. We don't have time tomorrow for the drive to Jack's so we might give Ridgely a shot. We'll call the HIghland Boys in the morning for an update.

It looks like it's going to be great. I'm loading the glider tonight and making one last check in the morning.

Should be a sweeeet day!

Where is Ridgely? I don't see it listed on the site guide.

Ridgely is on the Eastern Shore

Post by Dan T »

David,

Ridgely is the town adjacent to Highland Aerosports, an aerotow park on the Eastern Shore of Maryland. You can find a link to their web site by going to the "learn to fly" and "schools" section of our CHGPA webpage.

I think they are a terrific bunch of people with a great safety record and a "welcome to the family" attitude towards everyone who flies there. If you are aerotow rated or interested in learning, I encourage you to look them up.

Ridgely says it might be too strong this afternoon. With the price of gas lately it might be wise to check before going.

Ridgely wasn't bad today-- a sled, a slightly longer sled and a 40 minute flight topping out at 3200'. Karen, Danny B., Bunkhouse Bob and Steve K. also flew. Joe Gregor got back into the air with a tandem. Winds picked up at about 2:30 as predicted. So Ellis, who showed up late, didn't get to fly. There were also a bunch of tandems.

We made it home by 5ish - enough time to whack the weeds and still make our social commitment at 7pm-- a surprisingly good day.
