Bill's Hill Clean-Up-- Sunday!!!!

It's looking like a great day at Bill's on Sunday. So ya'll know what that means--- it's time for whacking down the weeds and clearing out the launch slot. So bring your instruments of destruction: machetes, saws, pruners, etc. And if you have a gas powered weed whacker or a chain saw, we need you there!!!! Come early, spend an hour clearing the slot and then have a great day of flying!!!!!

Anytime you get there is early enough.

We're shooting for arrival at 11:15am.

Thermals usually start popping at about 1pm.

Wow -- what an unexpectedly great day at Bill's for the paragliders! I had a reasonable 15 minute flight early (before noon), then spent over an hour and a half trying, unsuccessfully, to get my weed wacker to stay started (bad gas, I suspect -- that's what I get for not draining the old stuff at the end of last season). (A big thanks to everyone that actually got some work done -- must have been at least 12 folks working at one point -- it looks pretty good out there now.) Then I launched again at 2:30 and stayed up for 1 hour and 20 minutes, getting 1,400' over launch, a personal best for me. I finally came down because my hands were getting cold -- it was so bouyant I felt like I could have stayed up for another hour -- seemed very unusual for a day in which we never saw the sun. Mathew, Laszlo and Jeff(?) all had top landings (I was too chicken with all to hang gliders lined up -- I figured I'd never hear the end of it if I landed into one). Juanito had a host of students that all flew (at least 3 of them, maybe 4), and a film crew that got it all on camera. John, Karen and Daniel flew their paragliders as well.
