I'm game. I'll be campaigning in Harrisburg on Saturday and have a place to stay there... My hostess has another spare bedroom for any glider pilot who comes up to help out with the campaign for Obama. They are motivated, have a goal and need lots of volunteers in the region.
Breezewood is calling for E @ 8 right now for Sunday. Sounds more like a Bill's Hill day. 8 hours on the road on a Sunday is pretty brutal. I'd rather go to Bill's than Jacks. Why can't we have a Saturday Jack's Day in the forecast?
From the Hyner club forum: Looks like it was working at Jacks too today 4/6. Still enjoyed picking up the trash from the slot at Bills today. Bacil
Tbone, Mark and I had a great day at Jack's...We set up in lighter iffy winds that were straight in (balloon confirmed) and I launched first with about 7 to 9 and knew I was going to soar right away as i headed left. I hooked a thermal soon after to my surprise since there was 80 to 90% cloudcover...tTbone was next and he got up right away then Mark...After two thermal climbs I finally figured out the drift from the east and blasted my way to cloudbase to COLD foggy conditions...It was easy to thermal up after 300 ....I headed away from the lift to get down and warm up for another climb that took me back up again... this time I bailed cause I was still chilled from the previuos climb...I headed out twice to land only to find thermals out front that were a lot milder to work than the raspy ones on the ridge...I eventually had enough and forced myself down after an hour and a half...I had good landing wind and stepped back to earth with a huge grin...The clouds dissapated and there was sun! Mark and Tom landed soon after...What a day! It was good at Jack's from 2:30 till sunset...
