XC contest starts tomorrow Pulpit/Woodstock?

Post by Dan T »

Pete's XC contest starts tomorrow and it looks like it could be a great opening day. Woodstock and the Pulpit both look like candidates. Any takers?

Forecast for the Pulpit looks possibly on the strong side. McConnellsburg is calling for NW15 right now. I've got a commitment from 11:00-2:00 out in Gaithersburg so I might not be able to take advantage of the weather tomorrow. Its killing me, the first good flying Saturday and I have a schedule commitment, yet I've had the past 4 weekends wide open. Sunday looks like crap .... F'ing Weather!

I think it will be too north at the Pulpit and too light at Woodstock. Late Sunday PM at Woodstock looks NNW and breezy. That's what I'm hoping for. Bacil

I'm going to stick my neck out and predict that tomorrow afternoon is going to be epic at the Pulpit. The weather channel calls for NW at 10mph. Last weekend Woodstock gave us a hint that the spring turnover had begun and we have a pretty good warm up forecasted for the day.

My two cents says whoever flies it reports back that it was great and the rest of us kick ourselves (including me) for not getting out and giving it a chance.

Like your attitude, Dan : ) Be careful, though. Nice to see renewed enthusiasm in xc flying--almost makes me wish I was there. Hopefully some "new blood" will also get interested in going long.

We should've listened to Dan. Been wathing conditions. NW 5 in Altoona and NW at 6 in Hagerstown at 3pm on Saturday. Tom C and Juanito went to the Pulpit with their PGs.
