Dickey's LZ land owner family

Post by Joe Schad »

Stuart L. Rudacille (81yrs) of 2286 Browntown Road, Front Royal, VA died friday Feb 1. I believe he is the father of the landowners of the Dickey's LZ. Can any of you confirm this? If he is we should send our condolences to the family for their loss.

Steve Kinsley confirms that Stuart Rudacille is the land owner of the Dickey's LZ. For those who would like to read the newspaper obituary and the news article about Mr. Rudacille you can go to the Northern Virginia Daily web page: http://www.nvdaily.com.

You can sign a guest book on line by going to the web page. I also plan to send a card to the family.

I just talked to Joe. Yes, Mr. Rudacille was the owner of the land just to to the south where we used to land (and sometimes still do). His daugter Susan and her husband own the LZ. Mr. Rudacille was instrumental in opening the park to flying and defending us at a couple of critical moments. If you fly there pls sign the guest book. I also think we should send some flowers on behalf of the flying community. I dunno if that's a club thing or not.(?) Might be simpler just to handle it directly -- so I will be glad to do that if that's the consensus.

I remember hearing a story -- perhaps from Tom M -- that as a county superviser Mr. Rudacille once said something along the lines of as long as he's around there'll be hang gliding in the Park. …a good friend to our community.

Thanks for the info, Joe, and for taking care of flowers, Steve.
