I love OR but please understand that SE can be the VERY MOST VEXING DIRECTION AT OR PARK!!!

The air doesn’t look too bad and the siren song sings lightly spilling over the SE tree line. As you clear the chute to the right, it can (will) unexpectedly dump you... HARD! I’ve seen a healthy and inordinate share of broken hardware (and calcium) on SE days at OR right there at that SE corner..Proceed with caution and avoid the right side of the chute.

If it's east of SE, it can be very good though! Best wishes; I'll stop out... with my harness of course!

You all missed a good day at Oregon Ridge Park, as fate would have it the only place worth flying this weekend.
John was there with 4 (5?) students, as well as Glen, Danny and myself. Winds light and SE as predicted, pretty much dead up on launch for most of the day. Good day to practice light wind launches and landings. Pulled the drogue chute out flying Glen's big old F2 225 and didn't feel a thing, could not increase the drag on that glider to a measurable extent, LOL. But I wasn't flying at diving speed either.

I was sort of suprised that there was still quite a bit of snow on the hill though most of the LZ was clear and some clear patches of ground on parts of the slope. Stayed pretty cool (just above freezing) all day and got cooler after 3:00 never reaching the predicted high of upper 30's. I had 5 students (2 first timers, 1 2nd timer, 2 advanced H1's) and all had a good day. Winds (as expected) were mostly light (1 - 4 mph) and cross some from the right at the bottom and channeling up the slot. Glad we went and this set a new record of 4 classes for January! I wonder what February and March will bring? Glen and Yanni both did flights and I did 3 also.
